Description
This project involved the strategic implementation of a comprehensive, pan-European customer self-service portal designed to streamline interactions for customers of a leading multinational energy provider in Germany and Sweden. The platform empowered customers by enabling seamless management of contracts, meter readings, and invoicing through an intuitive and efficient digital interface.
Challenge
The primary challenge was creating a unified, scalable, and user-centric portal capable of addressing diverse customer needs across different European markets. Integrating complex backend systems such as SAP IS-U while ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with varying regulatory requirements added significant complexity to the project.
Solution
As Solution Design & Architecture Lead, I crafted a robust, cloud-based technical architecture leveraging Microsoft Azure to ensure scalability and reliability. We developed the front-end using React to create an engaging and responsive user experience, integrated seamlessly with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) 6 for content management. Java services formed the backbone of our solution, ensuring secure and efficient business logic handling. An Enterprise Service Bus, specifically WSO2, facilitated seamless integration with the SAP IS-U systems, ensuring real-time, secure data exchanges across platforms.
Results
The new portal significantly enhanced customer satisfaction by simplifying key service interactions, reducing operational costs, and improving data accuracy. Customers reported greater ease and transparency when managing their accounts. Additionally, the scalable cloud infrastructure enabled rapid future expansion into other European markets, establishing a strong foundation for sustained digital transformation.
Technologies
The project utilized advanced technologies including Java Services, Microsoft Azure Cloud Infrastructure, Adobe AEM 6, React JavaScript Framework, and WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus for robust integration with SAP IS-U systems.
